Communications Manager, Athletes & Race Teams
Created in 2003, the Red Bull Air Race World Championship has held more than 80 races around the world. The Red Bull Air Race World Championship features the world’s best race pilots in a pure motorsport competition that combines speed, precision and skill. Using the fastest, most agile, lightweight racing planes, pilots hit speeds of 370kmh while enduring forces of up to 12G as they navigate a low-level slalom track marked by 25-meter-high, air-filled pylons. In 2014, the Challenger Cup was conceived to help the next generation of pilots develop the skills needed for potential advancement to the Master Class that vies for the World Championship. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Communication Manager - Athletes & Race Teams (Pilots) to build the profile and awareness of the pilots and their race teams. Through the athlete communication, position the Red Bull Air Race as fascinating, most thrilling motorsport event of the world.
Areas that play to your strengths:
In this role, you will support Race Teams with a communication strategy and milestones throughout the season and support in all matters of communication internally. You will be the point of contact for all pilot communication needs (internally & externally). You will manage race teams communication assessment reporting. Develop long-term communication plans for the activation of the Race Teams in their market and supporting markets is part of this role as well.
You will act as the Red Bull Air Race Demo Days project lead from a communication side and lead the communication continuity management plan at the race airport. Another exciting aspect will be the definition of season strategies and storytelling opportunities.
As Communication Manager, you will develop the key messages and editorial strategy for Race Teams and Pilots, be responsible for Media training for Race Teams, manage and oversee content production with communication managers or directly with Race Teams for all pilots.
You will support the Race Team`s onsite activation and their communication, digital and social media strategies.
You will be responsible for enhancing media awareness through the pilots and their communication channels, driving and developing the pilots and their communication assets and activations in their home country, setting quality standards and stating best practice examples for internal and external use.
- A minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in Communications in the event industry
- University degree in communications, marketing, media management or similar
- Excellent knowledge of media relations, brand communication, media work, media productions and distribution
- Strong project management skills
- Good leadership qualities
- Structured approach, detail and team orientated
- Excellent correspondence, strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Sports enthusiastic
- Excellent English and German skills (written and spoken)
